Emma Stone Playfully Brushes Off Reviews as She Wins 2024 Critics Choice Award

Emma Stone won a big award at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards! She got it for being the best movie actress of the year. She won for her role as Bella Baxter in a movie called Poor Things. When she got the award, she said she was really surprised and called it crazy.

She talked about her role in the movie, where she played a woman with a baby’s brain. She said it was one of the best things she ever did and helped her unlearn some things about shame and what society thinks. She also made a joke about not caring about what people think.


Emma thanked the other women who were nominated in the same category. She mentioned Lily Gladstone, Sandra Hüller, Greta Lee, Carey Mulligan, and Margot Robbie. She said it didn’t make sense for her to win with such amazing actresses nominated.


This award comes after Emma Stone won at the Golden Globes for the same category. The movie she won for, “Poor Things,” is about a woman who gets a new start through a crazy experiment. Emma Stone has been open about why she liked this role, saying it felt like accepting what it means to be a woman.


The Critics Choice Awards also nominated other movies like “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer,” and “Killers of the Flower Moon.” On TV, “The Morning Show” and “Succession” got a lot of nominations.


The director and writer of “Killers of the Flower Moon,” Martin Scorsese, got Lily Gladstone her first Critics Choice nomination. Sandra Hüller, from Germany, is making a big impression in the U.S. with “Anatomy of a Fall.” Greta Lee is breaking through with her first nomination for “Past Lives.” Carey Mulligan got her fourth nomination for “Maestro,” and Margot Robbie got nominated six times and broke a record with “Barbie.”
